The Global Health Hub Germany and the Federal Ministry of Health are hosting the Forum Globale Gesundheit on 19 January 2026 from 12:30 to 19:30 in Berlin.
The forum marks the conclusion of the review process for the German Government’s global health strategy. Building on selected themes from the report, we will jointly look ahead to the future of global health architecture.
The forum aims to promote dialogue and strengthen collaboration between politics, science, private sector, civil society, youth, foundations, think tanks, international organisations, and other global health actors.

The event will take place in Berlin, with no online participation available. Please note that travel costs cannot be covered. The programme will predominantly be in German.

We especially encourage the youth to actively contribute their perspectives, join the discussion, and share ideas to help shape the future of German and global health policy. 🌍 Join us for the final Climate Change & Health Community Meeting of 2025

#COP30 brought renewed focus to the climate-health agenda, including the Belém Health Action Plan and stronger commitments to adaptation, equity, and climate-resilient systems.

As we reflect on these outcomes, the Climate Change and Health Community invites all members and interested persons to the last meeting of the year on Thursday, 11 December.

We are pleased to welcome Dr Marek Szilvasi, UNFCCC expert and climate–health specialist, who will share initial insights on COP30's health outcomes and their implications for the health sector.

🌍 Major warning sign: Health Financing at a Crossroads

A new report from The World Bank shows that low- and lower-middle-income countries are facing a steep decline in combined government and donor health spending by 2030.

📉 Health spending remains far below what is needed for universal health coverage, with stagnation since 2018 and sharp cuts to development assistance expected to widen the gap further.

Still, the report highlights a path forward.

🔑 Countries can still shift course by:
• Prioritizing primary health care and improving efficiency
• Aligning remaining external aid with national priorities
• Increasing the share of domestic budgets for health
• Expanding fiscal space through health taxes and broader reforms

Bold action now can save lives, strengthen systems, and drive economic growth.

The World Health Summit (WHS) in Berlin is looking for a Student Assistant Communications (m/f/d) to support its communications team in shaping the public visibility of one of the leading global health platforms.

Key Tasks:
• Support in creating, planning and publishing social media content (LinkedIn, Instagram, X, Facebook, YouTube), incl. basic graphic design (e.g. Canva)
• Drafting and proofreading texts and visual content for website, newsletter and other materials
• Monitoring and documenting media coverage (national & international)
• Research on current global health topics for publications and communication materials
• Support event communication, including materials for press and partners
• Maintain and update media and partner databases 📢

Profile Requirements:
• Enrolled student in a relevant field (e.g. Media, Communication, PR, Public Health, Politics)
• Strong interest in communication for diverse audiences
• Ideally first experience with social media tools, CMS (e.g. Storyblok) and CRM (e.g. MS Dynamics 365)
• Basic graphic design skills (Canva) an advantage
• Very good German and English (written & spoken)
• Strong organizational skills, reliability, ability to meet deadlines
• Team player with independent, solution- and service-oriented work style
• Creative, strategic thinker with a hands-on mindset and interest in global health 💡

🧬 World One Health Day 2025 – One Health, One Future

This week, the third meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group (IGWG) on the WHO Pandemic Agreement takes place, marking the first discussion of the draft annex on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) system.  https://apps.who.int/gb/IGWG/pdf_files/IGWG3/A_IGWG3_3-en.pdf

As we commemorate World One Health Day, we are reminded that agreements like the Pandemic Agreement and its PABS annex are not abstract treaties. They are foundations for action: in surveillance, data-sharing, capacity-building, and health equity.

💰 New WHO Guidance: Responding to the Global Health Financing Emergency

Global health systems are under pressure. With external health aid projected to fall by up to 40% in 2025, essential services like maternal care, vaccination, and disease surveillance are being disrupted across more than 100 low- and middle-income countries.

In response, the World Health Organization (WHO) has released new guidance: “Responding to the Health Financing Emergency: Immediate Measures and Longer-Term Shifts.” It outlines concrete steps countries can take to protect essential services, integrate donor-funded programmes, and transition towards sustainable domestic financing.

As Dr. Tedros noted, “In the crisis lies an opportunity for countries to transition away from aid dependency towards sustainable self-reliance.”

Resilient systems require both country leadership and global solidarity.

Extreme heat is no longer a distant risk. It is a lived reality reshaping lives, economies, and health systems. At the World Health Summit 2025, the Bundesministerium für Gesundheit (BMG) and the Global Health Hub Germany brought this challenge to life through an interactive tabletop simulation exercise, showing what it takes to protect people when temperatures rise.

I wanted to introduce Open Immuno, a project I started to help democratize access to immunology diagnostics.
