    🌍 “Shaping a Healthy Future Together – 40 Years of the Ottawa Charter” will take place on 24 November 2026 in Hannover, Germany, as the VII Symposium of the Zukunftsforum Public Health

    The conference marks 40 years since the Ottawa Charter and will explore how political decisions, social and economic conditions, living environments, participation and trust in public institutions shape health. 

    Through keynote presentations, interactive workshops and a panel discussion, experts from policy, science and practice will discuss the future of prevention, health promotion and Public Health in Germany—including health equity, health literacy, misinformation, community participation and the role of public health services. 💡

    The event is organised in cooperation with the Landesvereinigung für Gesundheit und Akademie für Sozialmedizin Niedersachsen Bremen e. V., with support from the Bundesinstitut für Öffentliche Gesundheit and the Robert Koch Institute.

    ⚠️ Please note: The event will be held in German, and a participation fee (80 EUR) applies.

    Hosted by rani, The Elders, and The Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response, the high-level event will examine how international partnerships can be strengthened in response to an increasingly complex global risk landscape shaped by conflict, infectious disease outbreaks, climate shocks, emerging technologies and trade tensions.

    The discussion will explore new ways to prioritise investment, strengthen global cooperation and break down traditional silos between health, biosecurity, climate and national security—with the shared goal of building greater resilience and stability for societies worldwide. 🤝🛡️

    On Friday, September 18, 2026, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin and Chiba University (Japan) will host an international scientific meeting on “Preventive Medicine from a New Perspective.” 🌍

    Taking place at Charité Campus Mitte, the meeting will bring together researchers from Germany and Japan to present their latest work and exchange perspectives on emerging topics in preventive medicine, including primordial prevention, healthy aging, digital health, and innovative prevention strategies.

    The program features two thematic sessions, followed by a panel discussion with all speakers. A networking lunch will offer participants an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and explore future research collaborations between Germany and Japan. 🤝

    Health Action International is hosting a series of interactive online co-design workshops as part of the ECHO (Engaging Citizens in Honest Opinion) project. 🩺 Participants—including healthcare workers, patient advocates, people with lived experience, and members of the public—are invited to share their perspectives on health mis- and disinformation and help shape practical training resources for healthcare professionals. The workshop series takes place on 16, 20, 23, and 29 July, with each session focusing on a different topic related to recognising and responding to health mis- and disinformation.

    The conference will explore the growing attacks on health care in conflict zones—from Gaza and Sudan to Ukraine and Lebanon—and discuss the erosion of medical neutrality, the protection of health under violence, and the wider impacts of militarization on health systems. 🌍🏥

    The program features a keynote by Christina Wille, expert-led workshops with speakers from Sudan, Lebanon, and Ukraine, and discussions on the ethical and political challenges facing global health today. CME training credits have been applied for.
