The Global Urban Health Community is organizing a lecture series on "City Diagnoses" to operationalize the previously published policy brief of urban health. Each week an expert from academia or practice is presenting their work on integrated assessments of urban health, as well as the challenges and opportunities arising.

Global urbanization is an ongoing megatrend. Cities are places that offer both opportunities and challenges for human health, and their dynamic development makes them “spaces of opportunity” for different futures. “City diagnoses” are intended as a tool to help identity a city’s health opportunities and challenges, develop a shared vision of the future for the local context, and create the basis for health-promoting action for a healthy future of cities. Together with interested parties and invited practitioners, the Global Urban Health Community Lecture Series will explore the concept of “city diagnoses” from different perspectives.

In today's lecture Beate Bokhof of the 'Gesunde Städte-Netzwerk Deutschland' and the Öffentlicher Gesundheitsdienst, Stadt Hamm will be presenting on local health promotion initatives. The lecture will be in German.

Paul & Sophie

Dear Community,

We would like to draw your attention to the "Maternal Mental Health in Africa - Conversations" symposium on 19 June 2024. The free, hybrid event is organized by the Nuffield Department of Women's and Reproductive Health and the Africa Oxford Initiative at the University of Oxford, UK, in collaboration with the Perinatal Mental Health Project at the University of Cape Town.

Registration is open on Eventbrite.

We are particularly interested in hearing from speakers with real-world experience and expertise in the field from the African continent. The format will be conversational, with an emphasis on engaging discussions and debate.

We would like to invite you to submit an abstract for presentations at the symposium. The themes are:

  1. Moving from Trial to Scale
  2. Working with Social Determinants
  3. Sustaining Capacity beyond Research

Submissions are welcome from researchers, advocates, practitioners, and individuals working in the NGO sector, with a focus on experiences and work conducted in Africa or with relevance to the African context.

The deadline for abstract submissions is 15 April 2024.

We very much look forward to your contributions to this important conversation on maternal mental health in Africa.

In healthcare, GenAI holds immense promise for revolutionizing medical research, diagnosis and treatment. But how can GenAI be utilized in the case of Real-World Evidence (RWE)? And to what extent can one leverage this technology effectively to enhance trial efficiency, improve data analysis capabilities and drive meaningful discoveries?

In our Climedo Connect on June 27, 2024, Dragan Mileski (Co-Founder and CTO of Climedo) will explore how to meaningfully apply GenAI across the field of clinical trials, with a specific focus on RWE.

What to expect:

  • Understanding GenAI: Explore the fundamentals of GenAI, including emerging trends and technology outlook, to grasp its potential in transforming RWE studies.
  • Top use cases for GenAI in post-market studies: Dive into the practical applications of GenAI in post-market studies, examining its role in drug safety monitoring, comparative effectiveness analysis and more.
  • Best practices for incorporating GenAI in clinical research: Learn actionable strategies and best practices for seamlessly integrating GenAI into your trials.

Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights and contribute to the discussion on enhancing collaboration between trial physicians, sponsors, and CROs in clinical trials.
