CALL FOR PARTICIPATION

The Interdisciplinary Expert Centre on Climate Change and Health (IECCCH) of the Hamburg University of Applied Sciences is organizing an Online Expert Seminar on "African Approaches Towards Combatting Infectious Diseases in a Changing Climatic Environment" on 8 November 2024, from 10:00 to 13:00 CET (Hamburg time).

Objective: Discuss the complex connection between climate change and infectious diseases, with a focus on developing countries in Africa. We aim to specialize in discussions on disease risk management, effective communication strategies, and advocacy to tackle these pressing challenges.

Why to participate in this seminar: Africa is especially susceptible to the effects of climate change, which can contribute to increased health risks related to malaria, diarrhea, and yellow fever. Climate change also alters the conditions for pathogens and vectors of zoonotic diseases, bringing along new challenges for maintaining human and animal health. This seminar aims to offer a thorough understanding of these issues and presents creative approaches to tackle them. Look forward to inspiring keynote lectures, learn and discuss latest research results from African and with fellow experts!
