to be filled. Further information on the Institute of International Animal Health/One Health can also be found at www.fli.de.

If the career and other requirements are met, the candidate will be appointed as a permanent civil servant to the position of “Director and Professor” in the salary group B1 of the Federal Salary Schedule (Bundesbesoldungsordnung). Tasks:
The Institute of International Animal Health/One Health (IITG) is one of twelve specialized institutes of the Friedrich-Loeffler-Institute (FLI). It works scientifically within the framework of international cooperation in animal health and One Health. It advises the German Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) on these issues.

The IITG's work aims to combat animal diseases and zoonoses, particularly in non-European countries, through transdisciplinary research and capacity strengthening. The Institute supports the One Health approach through its cross-sectoral international advisory and committee work and initiates and supports systems-based One Health transformative processes in collaboration with its international partners. Central to the work of the IITG is networking with the other FLI institutes and their respective thematic focuses. The work of the IITG supports the creation of a scientifically sound database for evaluating the One Health approach and generating knowledge in the field of global health.

Active participation in projects and committees with Quadripartite partners (FAO, WHO, WOAH and UNEP) and other international organisations, participation in the implementation of the One Health Joint Plan of Action, promotion of intersectoral collaboration in international animal health and promotion of collegial collaboration across the five IITG Working Groups, leading international teams, including coordination of FLI participation in the German Epidemic Preparedness Team (SEEG) deployments, and the supervision of the IITG-coordinated field stations (e.g., Tanzania and Vietnam) are part of the scope of work.

Requirements:
We are looking for a highly qualified scientist with an internationally recognised profile in international animal health from the disciplines of veterinary medicine, public health, biology, agricultural sciences, or related sciences. We expect many years of successful work in international animal health or veterinary public health.

In addition, sound experience in interacting with supranational organisations and a broad network of international contacts are required. The position is linked to the willingness to take regular business trips abroad.

The work of the IITG is internationally oriented, transdisciplinary and strongly networked within the FLI. Therefore, good communication skills as well as experience in team-oriented leadership, management of research projects and acquisition of external funding are required. In addition to a very good command of English, knowledge of German is expected. Other foreign language skills are desirable.

A strong research profile that fits with the existing working groups at the Institute of International Animal Health, a sound knowledge of One Health-based policy advice and experience in intersectoral cooperation with countries in the Global South are also required. A specialist qualification (e.g. Fachtierarzt/Fachtierärztin, Diplomate status (European College Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS)) in areas relevant to international animal health) and/or a habilitation or the intention to obtain one are an advantage. The same applies to knowledge and experience of the cooperation mechanisms within the BMEL and with other federal institutions in the field of International Animal Health/One Health.

The job may involve work in the security sector, which requires inspection under the Security Inspection Act and special protective measures against health hazards. Therefore, personal and health suitability are prerequisites for the position.
