The Hasso Plattner Institute is seeking a PhD candidate or postdoctoral researcher to join an interdisciplinary digital health team working on a “digital twin” for diabetes care. The full-time position is based in Potsdam (Berlin/Brandenburg region), with a hybrid setup and a 3-year contract (extension possible). The start date is planned for Q3/Q4 2026.
Key responsibilities
* Develop and validate simulation models of physiological and behavioural processes (e.g. glucose-insulin dynamics)
* Work with real-world sensor and wearable data for analysis and modelling 📊
* Build data interfaces and simulation tools
* Contribute to research publications and collaborate with clinical and open-source communities
* Support reproducible research and system integration with partners
Profile requirements
* Master’s degree (PhD required for postdoc level) in computer science, biomedical/health informatics, data science, or related field 🎓
* Strong programming skills (Python and/or Julia)
* Experience in modelling, simulation, or time-series/sensor data analysis
* Interest in digital health and interdisciplinary collaboration
Additional assets include experience with biomedical data, diabetes technologies, or open-source development.
