The German government has concluded agreements with more than 40 international organisations to promote young German professionals as JPOs. The programme is managed by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ); the Office for Executives in International Organisations (BFIO) is responsible for implementing the programme. The programme is aimed at applicants who are German nationals and have gained their first professional experience after completing a university degree.

As this is a programme to promote young talent, applicants should generally have between two and four years of professional experience.
