Doctoral Researcher – Artificial Intelligence & Public Health | Robert Koch Institute | Application deadline: 30 April 2026 🤖🩺

The Robert Koch Institute is offering multiple part-time (65%) doctoral positions in its ZKI-PH team (Center for Artificial Intelligence in Public Health Research) at the Wildau site. The positions provide the opportunity to conduct independent research at the interface of AI, medicine, and bioinformatics, including early warning systems, risk assessment of pathogens, disease burden calculations, Big Data analysis, automated processing of high-throughput molecular biology experiments, and pattern recognition in complex public health datasets. Candidates will develop algorithms and software tools, present findings at national and international conferences, and contribute to publications and research reports.

Candidates should have a completed scientific university degree (Master, Diplom, or State Exam) in a relevant technical, scientific, medical, or public health field. Required skills include quantitative data analysis, experience with at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java), and English C1 proficiency. German A2 is required or willingness to improve. Experience with AI, machine learning, deep learning, and scientific publishing is desirable.
