The German Red Cross (DRK) is hiring a Referent for Emergency Response (m/f/d) to join its “Deployment Support” team, supporting both national and international civil protection efforts. The role focuses on project coordination, resource management, and strengthening DRK’s role within the EU Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM).

📍 Location: Berlin
📅 Start date: As soon as possible
📆 Contract: Full-time (39 hrs/week), fixed term for 2 years with long-term perspective

🔧 Key Responsibilities
• Coordinate emergency response and civil protection projects with DRK regional branches
• Develop DRK’s involvement in UCPM, including managing a volunteer deployment pool
• Identify EU funding opportunities and support project proposal development
• Represent DRK in national and EU-level working groups
• Provide technical input and guidance on project design and civil protection strategies
• Participate in the DRK emergency operations center and be willing to travel within Europe

✅ Your Profile
• University degree in political/social/administrative sciences, disaster management, or related fields
• Several years of experience in project coordination/management, ideally in NGO or public sector
• Strong knowledge of national/EU civil protection structures, especially UCPM
• Proven success in securing/managing EU-funded projects
• Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
• Fluency in German and English required
