The Institute of International Animal Health / One Health (IITG) in Greifswald - Insel Riems is seeking to fill the position ofa senior researcher for the establishment of the working group "Host-Microbe Ecology and Evolution" (m/f/d).

The Friedrich-Loeffler-Institut is one of the world's leading research institutes in the field of animal diseases, animal welfare, animal husbandry, animal nutrition and farm animal genetics. It is part of the portfolio of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture and informs and advises the Federal Government in these areas.

The position is filled on a permanent basis. Depending on fulfilment of the requirements of the collective agreement, you will be graded up to pay group 14 TVöD, tariff area - East.

TASKS:
The post holder shall establish a well-integrated research group at the IITG with a distinct research profile in the field of international animal health and One Health. The research work shall encompass bioinformatic analysis and interpretation of the institute’s own sequencing and omics data (e.g., genomics and metagenomics). In addition, the candidate shall develop and execute its own projects in the field of “Host-Pathogen Genetics”. It is expected that genome research in the field of host-pathogen adaptation and phylogeography is conducted in an international context.
Other key tasks are
- Development and administration of databases with international partners, including the analysis of complex data
- Travelling to the target regions of the IITG to support the field stations and for international capacity strengthening (e.g. training of partners)
- IT administration of the FLI field stations and the bioinformatics networking of the IITG with the other FLI specialised institutions
