At the recent 6th meeting of the Intergovernmental Working Group (IGWG), Member States agreed to extend negotiations on the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (#PABS) annex to the WHO Pandemic Agreement. Talks will resume from 27 April to 1 May, ahead of the World Health Assembly in May.
While differences remain on key issues, the decision signals continued commitment. As Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus noted:
“The PABS Annex remains the heart of this agreement… it’s about how we share what saves lives and how we trust each other when it matters most”
đź’ˇ But the key question remains: Can countries find common ground on PABS?
