On Friday, our Hub Community on NCD will host a panel discussion at the Women in Global Health - Germany network meeting with guest speaker Dr. Antonella Santuccione Chadha, President and Pro-Bono Chief Executive Officer of the Women's Brain Foundation. NCDs are the leading cause of death worldwide, increasingly affecting low- and middle-income countries. Integrating brain health into NCD policies and initiatives is crucial as it impacts various aspects of life, from cognitive function to socio-emotional and behavioral well-being. This integration is essential for achieving the SDGs, fostering innovation, economic growth, and human capital formation.
We would like to highlight the Policy Brief "Global Brain Health – Action Urgently Required!" by our Hub Community on Non-Communicable Diseases. This paper explores the concept of brain health, its global burden, implementation strategies, and Germany's potential role in promoting brain health globally, proposing specific policy recommendations for Germany. Please also find the accompanying comment paper by our Community Manager Prof. Dr. Andrea Winkler and colleagues, published in The Lancet here:
