The online course Mastering R for Epidemiologic Research begins on 27 April 2026 and offers a flexible, fully asynchronous learning experience for researchers, public health professionals, epidemiologists, and clinicians who want to strengthen their R programming skills.

Led by Malcolm Barrett, data scientist and research software engineer at Stanford University, the course introduces modern tools from the R ecosystem, including the Tidyverse and Quarto, and supports participants in building reproducible, high-quality analyses.

Participants will learn to:
• Master the tidyverse for readable, efficient, and reproducible data science workflows
• Create dynamic, fully reproducible documents with Quarto (exportable to PDF, HTML, Word, and more)
• Model statistical problems using linear and logistic regression

Immunization Week 2026 – Breakfast Talks by CCGH 🩺🌍

During Immunization Week 2026, CCGH invites both experts and the wider public to a series of engaging virtual Breakfast Talks focused on one of global health’s most powerful tools: immunization 💉✨. Known for preventing and even eradicating infectious diseases, vaccination remains essential—and this event highlights why it still matters today.

Across five mornings (April 24–30, 2026, 9:00–9:45 AM Berlin time), participants—including students, researchers, doctors, and academics—can join a semi-casual, interactive format that encourages open discussion and knowledge exchange ☕💬. Each session combines a short presentation, group discussions, and a Q&A, offering a refreshing alternative to traditional lectures.

The program covers a wide range of topics—from vaccine access and equity to policy, research, and implementation in global health. Speakers will share insights on challenges such as improving access to pneumococcal vaccines, strengthening vaccination strategies in West Africa, and building sustainable vaccine R&D capacity in Ghana 🌱🌐.

A webinar hosted by Global Health Hub Germany (GHHG) and Global Action on Men's Health (GAMH). This meeting will explore opportunities in Germany, across Europe and globally to strengthen men’s health through research, practice, and policy—contributing to improved quality of life for all.

Practitioners, policymakers, and advocates will come together to:

• Discuss the importance of investing in men’s health

• Share current initiatives and examples from Germany and beyond • Identify key barriers, policy gaps, and the wider social and economic impacts related to men’s health

• Explore opportunities for national, European and global action, including the development of a men’s health strategy in Germany and other countries

🌍 Circle U. Open Conversation: One Planet – One Health? 🌱

On April 22, 2026 (11:00–12:30), the Circle U. invites participants to an engaging online Open Conversation exploring how climate change is reshaping the way we think about health 🌡️🧠.

This session highlights the deep connections between climate change and disease across humans, animals, and ecosystems 🌿🐾—challenging traditional, human-centered medical perspectives. While much attention has been given to human health, the discussion will also shed light on often-overlooked plant diseases and their critical role in sustaining ecosystems and livelihoods 🌾.

Guided by the holistic One Health approach, leading experts—including researchers from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and UCLouvain—will explore new challenges and interdisciplinary solutions for global health in a changing climate 🌎.

🌍 Consultation Meeting: AMR Learning & Health Workforce Capacity Building

The WHO Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Department, in collaboration with the WHO Academy, is organizing a consultation meeting to support the development of a multi-year learning programme on antimicrobial resistance.

🦠 About the Event
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the major global health threats, making infections harder to treat and increasing the risk of disease spread, severe illness, and death. Strengthening education and training for health professionals is a key priority identified in global commitments, including the 2024 World Health Assembly resolution and the UN General Assembly Political Declaration on AMR.

This consultation will contribute to the design of a country-focused learning strategy aimed at strengthening the health workforce and improving the prevention and management of infections.

🎯 Key Objectives

• Identify priority topics and target audiences for an AMR learning programme

• Map existing AMR learning initiatives and their uptake

• Identify key gaps and opportunities for capacity building

• Define the scope, approach, and expected outcomes of the learning strategy

Publishing in academic journals is a central part of sharing research and contributing to scientific debate. Yet the publication process – from selecting an appropriate journal to preparing a manuscript and responding to peer review – often raises practical questions for researchers.

In this webinar, participants will gain insights into the publication process from the perspective of PLOS Global Public Health. PLOS Global Public Health is an open access forum for research that reaches across disciplines and regional boundaries to address the biggest health challenges and inequities facing our society today. 

The session will provide practical guidance on preparing submissions, understanding editorial expectations, and navigating peer review. It will also introduce the different formats available, from original research articles to blog posts. Participants will have the opportunity to raise questions and discuss practical aspects of preparing and submitting their work for publication.

From 18–20 March 2026, the 8th Conference on Data Protection in Healthcare will take place in Frankfurt am Main, focusing on the theme “Between Progress and Data Protection: Research & AI in Healthcare.” The event will bring together experts to discuss how innovation—especially artificial intelligence and digital research methods—can be balanced with strong data protection and privacy standards in the health sector. 🏥🔐🤖

The conference will be held at the IntercityHotel Frankfurt Airport and will feature a series of specialized seminars and expert sessions. Participation in the seminars is included in the registration fee, and each seminar is limited to 35 participants to ensure interactive discussions and sufficient time for questions.

📢 Congress “Poverty and Health 2026” – Health is Political!

On 16–17 March 2026, the annual Congress Poverty and Health will take place in Berlin, hosted at the Henry-Ford-Bau at the Free University of Berlin. The congress invites participants to discuss the central theme “Health is political! What is equity in health worth to us as a society?”.

The program includes more than 100 sessions, bringing together experts and practitioners from science, healthcare, politics, civil society, and community organizations. The event will be opened by Ilona Kickbusch, a renowned global health expert. 🎤

Since 1995, the congress has served as an important platform for raising awareness about health inequalities in Germany and exploring solutions. Participants will discuss research findings, policy strategies, and practical experiences aimed at addressing the social determinants of health, such as housing, education, and employment. 🏥⚖️

The event also places a strong focus on young professionals and emerging voices, with special formats such as a Science Slam and sessions designed for early-career participants. 🎓

By bringing together diverse actors each year, the Congress helps strengthen advocacy for people affected by poverty and health inequality and promotes dialogue on how societies can create fairer health opportunities for all. 🌍

Since 1995, the Kongress Armut und Gesundheit (Poverty and Health Congress) has been Germany’s key platform for addressing health inequalities. Each year, it brings together stakeholders from science, healthcare, politics, practice, and self-help to examine the structural drivers of health disparities, share research, and explore strategies for change.

The 2026 congress will center on a pressing question: What are social equity and health worth to us as a society? Building on last year’s call for poverty-sensitive, evidence-based policymaking, the event will critically examine why political action often fails to reflect scientific evidence, and how this can be changed.

Participants can expect a programme of discussions, presentations, and workshops highlighting new research, policy approaches, and practical solutions. Contributions can be submitted until 15 September 2025.
