🌍 7th International Young Researchers’ Symposium on Global Health

(Satellite Symposium of the World Health Summit 2025)
The Institute for Research in International Assistance (IRIA) invites young researchers from across the globe to join the 7th International Young Researchers’ Symposium on Global Health. The symposium offers a platform for scientific exchange and collaboration, with all contributions to be published in Akkon University’s compendium.
October 11
The first day opens with a welcome session and the exhibition Unissued Diplomas, followed by international young researchers’ presentations on topics ranging from climate change and health to digital interventions and community health challenges. The evening concludes with the prestigious Virchow Prize Ceremony at Berlin’s Red City Hall.
October 12
The second day continues with presentations from young researchers representing countries including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Yemen, Pakistan, and Germany. The symposium wraps up with a summary and outlook, before participants transition to the World Health Summit in Berlin.

The Global Health Academy will host an interactive two-day workshop for doctoral and postdoctoral researchers on the responsible conduct of science in global health research. Participants will engage in expert-led discussions and collaborative activities, including a session at the United Nations University on the UN Campus Bonn.
The program will address:
- Good scientific practice and ethics: respect, integrity, equity, sustainability, environmental impacts, and reflection on power and positionality.
- Human rights in global health: gender equality, intersectionality, and barriers to progress.
- Ideologies and context: the influence of historical and political ideologies such as Cold War legacies, authoritarianism, and global capitalism on research.
Insights from the workshop will help shape a self-paced online training program to be launched in 2026 via the new GLOHRA Training Platform.
We are excited to invite you to the kick-off workshop for our new cross-community annual theme on:
“AI in Global Health – A Double-Edged Sword”,
the thematic focus of the Global Health Hub Germany Communities for 2025/2026.
Together, we aim to explore the promises and pitfalls of artificial intelligence in global health:
Where is AI already making a difference in global health today,
what risks need to be addressed to ensure ethical and equitable use, and what interdisciplinary perspectives must be included?

Global health professionals and researchers (PhD level and above) are invited to apply for the upcoming workshop “Creativity for Equity: Innovative Science Communication for Global Health Justice,” co-organized by Hannah Strohmeier, Yagmur Demirpehlivan, Torben Heinsohn, and Charlotte Köhler.
This two-day event will offer a rich blend of learning, hands-on creative practice, and collective reflection — all centered on how science communication can be reimagined to support equity and justice in global health.
Open to those working at the intersection of health, communication, and social transformation, the workshop promises a collaborative and inspiring atmosphere at the unique Spreefeld venue in Berlin.

As part of the 78th World Health Assembly, the Advocacy for Global Health Partnerships (AGHP) will host this side event to explore its groundbreaking report Enacting an Ethic of Care and Responsibility in Global Health Partnerships. The 14th International Global Health Summer School, hosted by IPPNW Germany in cooperation with Charité Berlin, invites 25 participants to join an immersive, interdisciplinary program exploring the urgent intersections of climate justice, health, and peace.
In a time of ecological collapse, backlash against climate action, and widening health inequities, this year's theme is a call to critically examine the systems at the root of these crises—and to reimagine them through collective care and interdependence.
Through an intersectional, decolonial lens, the program will feature presentations, workshops, and excursions, bridging professional and activist perspectives. Participants will reflect, connect, and co-create in a space dedicated to dialogue, learning, and transformative thinking.

Three years after the adoption of the European Union Global Health Strategy, the European Commission is organising the 2025 Global Health Policy Forum (GHPF).
Global health stakeholders will gather to take stock of the implementation of the Strategy, assess current and future challenges, and discuss what lies ahead for the global health agenda. The objective of the Forum is to foster constructive dialogue and strengthen engagement among key global health stakeholders.
Registration is mandatory for both in-person and online participants. Registrations are open until 14 April 2025. Your participation will be confirmed by email. In person attendance will be confirmed after the registration deadline

The Global Health Policy Forum will take place on 15 May 2025 in a hybrid format to allow broad participation from global stakeholders. The in-person meeting will be hosted at the Conference Centre Albert Borschette (CCAB), room 0D, Rue Froissart 36, 1049 Brussels.
