Head of Scientific Project Management | NAKO Health Study | 15 September 2026
🔬 NAKO Health Study is looking for a Head of Scientific Project Management (w/m/d) to lead the scientific project-management team at its head office in Heidelberg and contribute to Germany’s largest epidemiological long-term health study.
📍 Location: Heidelberg, Germany
🗓️ Start: As soon as possible
⏳ Contract: Fixed-term until 30 April 2028
💼 Working hours: Full-time; part-time possible
🔎 Main responsibilities
Lead the Scientific Project Management department, currently comprising four scientific project managers. Plan, organise and coordinate the operational implementation of the study across the NAKO network. Help shape the study’s scientific strategy and report to the Board and General Assembly. Develop and coordinate study materials and procedures, including questionnaires, biospecimens, SOPs and study processes implemented across 18 study centres. Support endpoint validation processes and ensure work packages and milestones are delivered. Prepare scientific project and follow-up funding applications. Represent NAKO at scientific conferences and reviews, including presentations and talks. Work closely with interdisciplinary teams and research infrastructures across Germany. 🤝📊
🎓 Profile
Master’s degree or equivalent in epidemiology, health sciences or a related field; a PhD is desirable. Several years of experience collecting epidemiological research data and managing epidemiological studies. Proven management and leadership skills. Excellent communication, cooperation and integration skills. Structured, proactive and independent working style. Strong problem-solving and strategic-thinking abilities. Excellent German and good English, both written and spoken.
