🌍 The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking a Team Leader (Communicable Diseases) (P3) to coordinate technical support for the prevention and control of communicable and non-communicable diseases in Luanda, Angola.

🦠 Main responsibilities:
Coordinate technical expertise and provide advice on sustainable, integrated national strategies, policies and programmes for communicable and non-communicable disease control. Support disease prevention across the life course and promote the adoption of WHO standards, guidelines and tools. Oversee operational research, surveillance, epidemiology and health surveys. Coordinate disease-control projects, including priorities, targets, workplans, budgets, monitoring and evaluation. Analyse disease and outbreak data, identify risks and recommend appropriate prevention and response measures. Monitor the national disease burden and strengthen health information systems. Support progress towards Universal Health Coverage (UHC) and serve as a technical communication focal point on disease prevention and control. Strengthen community outreach, facilitate access to safe and affordable medicines and technologies, and build partnerships to support multisectoral disease-control efforts. 🌐📊

👤 Candidate profile:
Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, medicine, statistics or a related field required. Training or specialisation in communicable and/or non-communicable diseases is desirable. Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in disease investigation, surveillance and control, as well as developing strategies, action plans and capacity-building programmes. Experience advising Ministries of Health and other national partners is desirable, as is experience with WHO, UN agencies, humanitarian organisations or health-cluster partners. International experience is an advantage. Strong knowledge of diseases including malaria, TB and HIV, health systems, primary healthcare, UHC, disease-control programmes and WHO policies is important, alongside excellent analytical, organisational, partnership-building and resource-mobilisation skills.

💰 Remuneration & benefits:
Annual base salary starting at USD 71,335, plus a variable post adjustment currently USD 3,293/month for Luanda. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave and an education grant for dependent children.

🚨 This role is particularly suited to an experienced public health, epidemiology or medical professional with substantial experience in communicable disease surveillance and control, health programme leadership and national health-system collaboration.
