🌍 The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking a Data Manager (P3) to strengthen disease surveillance and data management for polio, acute flaccid paralysis (AFP), measles and other vaccine-preventable diseases in Luanda, Angola.

📌 Position details:
Full-time, temporary appointment for 1 year
Duty station: Luanda, Angola
Grade: P3

📊 Main responsibilities:
Improve data management and data-use practices for polio/AFP and vaccine-preventable disease surveillance. Compile, quality-check and analyse surveillance data to support timely decision-making at national and sub-national levels. Coordinate regular data harmonisation meetings involving surveillance and laboratory teams. Assess data-management needs, identify weaknesses and support solutions. Develop training materials and support capacity-building on data management. Establish standard operating procedures (SOPs) for data management, backup and archiving. Conduct supervisory visits to priority provinces to verify data quality, analysis and interpretation. Produce regular feedback bulletins for stakeholders and support other polio eradication and vaccine-prevention activities. 🦠📈

👤 Candidate profile:
University degree in data management, computer applications/management support, epidemiology, statistics or demography required. A public health degree is desirable. Minimum 5 years of experience in data management, epidemiological surveillance, vaccination and/or vaccine-preventable disease control. Strong expertise in data management, epidemiology and infectious disease control is important, alongside excellent computer skills and experience with data analysis, monitoring, evaluation or operational research. Must be able to work effectively across different cultural and educational settings and be willing to travel to provinces and districts across Angola. 💻🌍

🗣️ Languages:
Expert English and French required.
Beginner Portuguese desirable.
The English/French language requirements are interchangeable according to the advert.

💰 Remuneration & benefits:
Annual base salary starting at USD 71,335, plus a variable post adjustment currently USD 3,293/month for Luanda. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave and an education grant for dependent children.
