🌍 The World Health Organization (WHO) is seeking a Communication Officer (P3) for its Country Office in Tripoli, Libya.

📌 Position details:
Full-time, fixed-term appointment for 1 year, Contract subject to availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need

🎯 Main responsibilities:
Develop and implement country-level communication and advocacy strategies aligned with WHO global and regional strategies. Identify success stories and produce communication, advocacy and media materials. Manage outreach through media, social media and the WHO country-office website. Organise media events, campaigns and technical briefings. Build strong relationships with journalists, media outlets, national stakeholders and communication partners. Monitor media coverage, audience perceptions and communication risks. Support communication during public health emergencies, outbreaks and other crises, including risk communication and social mobilisation. Advise WHO leadership and staff on strategic communication. Represent WHO in relevant UN communication groups and support communication training for staff.

👤 Candidate profile:
First university degree in communication, journalism, political science, social sciences, international relations or a related field. At least 5 years of relevant communication/advocacy experience at national and international levels. Experience supporting humanitarian emergencies, health outbreaks and recovery activities. Strong experience writing advocacy documents and producing communication materials. Excellent writing, interpersonal and networking skills. Ability to translate technical health information for different audiences and develop messaging for an international organisation.
Strong understanding of public health and international development. WHO/UN or international NGO experience, public health qualifications, advocacy campaign experience and risk-communication training are desirable.

💰 Remuneration & benefits:
Annual base salary starting at USD 71,335, subject to applicable deductions. Variable post adjustment currently USD 1,837/month for the duty station. 30 days annual leave. Potential allowances for dependants, home leave and education grants for dependent children.
