TWAS–DFG Cooperation Visits Programme

The Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG), in collaboration with The World Academy of Sciences, supports short-term research visits to Germany for early-career researchers from selected countries in the Middle East and North Africa.

Overview

* German research institutions can invite early-career researchers for 3-month research stays**
* strengthen international collaboration and knowledge exchange
* open to all disciplines

Eligible countries

Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Syria, Tunisia, Yemen

Funding

* up to €2,350/month for accommodation and visa
* up to €1,350 for travel (flight/rail)
* up to €700/month for project-related costs

Applicant requirements

* based at an institution in an eligible country
* at least 5 years of experience in academia/research
* PhD obtained 2021 or later (extensions possible)
* no prior collaboration with the German host

Application process

* applications submitted by the visiting researcher to TWAS
* must include an invitation letter from the German host
* deadline: 15 April 2026
