The Deutsche Krankenhausgesellschaft (DKG), the national umbrella organisation representing German hospital providers, is seeking a Project Lead (freelance / contract basis) for an internationally funded project on sustainable and health-promoting food systems in hospitals. The position is based in Berlin, with a start as soon as possible. The project runs until 30 June 2027.
Tasks
• Lead, manage and coordinate the project according to the funding agreement
• Build, maintain and moderate best-practice networks and learning formats for hospitals
• Analyse success factors and barriers for healthy and sustainable hospital food
• Develop and further shape strategies on sustainable nutrition, climate protection and transformation in hospitals
• Organise and contribute to expert exchanges, dialogue events and presentations
• Document measures and results and prepare plans, position papers and a final report
Project goals
• Support hospitals in making their food systems healthier and more sustainable
• Collect and share best practices in hospital nutrition
• Strengthen the role of hospitals as health actors promoting sustainable diets
• Build networks among stakeholders in the food and health sectors
• Involve health actors in shaping local, national and EU food systems
Profile requirements
• Experience in project management, ideally in sustainable nutrition, climate protection, Planetary Health or related transformation fields
• Experience managing complex projects
• Good understanding of the German hospital system and its stakeholders
• Independent, proactive and well-structured working style
