The Medical Faculty OWL at Bielefeld University is seeking a Medical Scientific Staff Member (m/f/d) to work as an Academic Lecturer in General Practice.

About the role
The position is based in the Working Group for General and Family Medicine, which connects university medicine with primary care practice and plays a key role in shaping the general practice focus of the faculty.
This role is particularly suitable for physicians in an early stage of their academic career who are highly motivated in university-level teaching and research. The Academic Lecturer position has a strong teaching focus while offering opportunities for individual academic profile development.
Key responsibilities
Teaching (45%)
* Deliver teaching in General Practice (8 teaching hours per week at full-time equivalent)
* Conduct and assess coursework and examinations
Teaching-related duties (15%)
* Develop and update curricular content and teaching materials
* Evaluate teaching quality
* Organise and deliver Train-the-Teacher sessions for GP teaching physicians
* Recruit and support teaching practices
* Deliver continuing education events (e.g. General Practice Day, teaching practice meetings)
Research (20%)
* Conduct medical research, particularly in educational research in general practice
* Contribute to third-party funded projects (especially in teaching)
* Present at conferences and publish research findings
Independent academic development (20%)
* Develop own teaching and (educational) research profile
Candidate profile
Required:
* Degree in Human Medicine
* German medical license (Approbation)
* Specialist in General Practice, Internal Medicine, or Internal & General Medicine (or currently in specialist training)
* Strong knowledge of general practice
* Experience in medical education and (educational) research
* Skills in presentation, moderation, and digital tools
* Independent, responsible and team-oriented working style
* Very good German language skills (written and spoken)
* Gender and diversity competence
Desirable:
* Completed doctorate (PhD/MD); doctoral projects will be fully supported if not yet completed
* Teaching experience in medical education
* Interest in higher education didactics training
* Experience with e-learning, blended learning, interprofessional teaching, and Train-the-Trainer concepts
