The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) is seeking a Research Associate (Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiterin) to join Unit FG 37 – Nosocomial Infections, Surveillance of Antimicrobial Resistance and Consumption. The position focuses on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and healthcare-associated infections (HAI) within international partner countries.

🔬 Key responsibilities include:
• Designing and implementing international AMR and HAI projects in partner countries (e.g. Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Montenegro, Cambodia)
• Strengthening AMR and HAI data management, including data collection, quality assurance, analysis, interpretation, and reporting to WHO GLASS
• Supporting improvements in microbiological diagnostics and antimicrobial stewardship
• Providing on-site mentorship, supervising laboratory processes, quality assurance, and delivering training in partner countries
• Supporting WHO in the further development of AMR processes and standards
• Publishing scientific results

👤 Profile sought:
• University degree in medicine, epidemiology, or a related field (Master’s level or equivalent); PhD desirable
• Several years of professional experience in diagnostic microbiology, clinical medicine, or epidemiology, with a strong focus on AMR
• Experience in international projects, preferably in low-income countries, particularly Sub-Saharan Africa
• Strong skills in data management and analysis; experience with WHONET, GLASS, and R is an asset
• Language skills: German (B2), English (C1) required; French (B1) desirable
• Willingness to travel internationally (up to 20% of working time) and meet health requirements for work in low-income settings

📍 Location: Berlin, Germany
🕒 Working time: Part-time (35.1 hours/week; 90%)
📄 Contract: Fixed-term until 31 December 2028
💰 Salary: TVöD-Bund E 13–E 14
