The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is seeking a full-time intern to support the global health programme BACKUP Gesundheit – Supporting Global Health. The internship is based in Bonn and runs from 1 February 2026 to 31 July 2026.
🩺 Key Tasks
• Support the BACKUP Gesundheit portfolio team in daily operations
• Assist with commission and contract management, including reporting to the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)
• Contribute to internal and external communications
• Support Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) activities, including data collection, analysis, and further development of the M&E framework
• Conduct research and prepare information and data for knowledge management
• Help prepare and follow up on meetings, events, and workshops
• Participate in internal meetings and professional events
• Learn GIZ-specific administrative and organizational processes
👤 Profile Requirements
• Student (from at least the 5th semester) in Public Health, Health Sciences, Social Sciences, or a related field
• Strong interest in international development cooperation and global health
• First experience at the intersection of health and development cooperation (through studies or internships)
• Experience in Monitoring & Evaluation and Excel skills are an asset
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to explain complex topics clearly in German and English
• Proactive, responsible, and able to work independently
• Fluent German and English required; French or other languages are a plus
