Vice President, Global Biological Policy and Programs (NTI | bio) | Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) | Open until filled
The Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) is seeking a Vice President to lead its Global Biological Policy and Programs (NTI | bio) team—an international effort addressing biological risks and strengthening global biosecurity.
Position Overview
The Vice President will guide NTI’s strategic work on biological threat reduction, pandemic preparedness, and responsible biotechnology innovation. This full-time, Washington, DC–based position reports to the CEO and supervises a team of nine.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop and implement NTI | bio’s strategic vision to reduce biological threats.
• Serve as NTI’s expert voice on biosecurity, health security, and bioscience governance.
• Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team.
• Oversee major projects, budgets, and partnerships.
• Drive fundraising, partnership building, and high-level advocacy with governments, multilaterals, and industry.
Profile Requirements
• 15–20 years of senior-level leadership experience in biosecurity, health security, or biodefense.
• PhD/MD or master’s degree in a relevant discipline with equivalent experience.
• Proven record of managing complex global programs and securing funding.
• Recognized expertise in biological threat reduction and international policy engagement.
• Excellent strategic, communication, and partnership skills; international experience required.
• Willingness to travel internationally.
Salary & Benefits
💼 Annual salary: USD 250,000–280,000, based on experience.
