About the Role
Welthungerhilfe, one of Germany’s largest private organizations for development cooperation and humanitarian aid, is seeking a Part-Time Emergency Communications Officer. The position is embedded within the Communications Team and plays a critical role in supporting humanitarian crisis response through communications. The role ensures rapid, high-quality content creation for media, donors, and public outreach during emergencies.

Key Responsibilities
• Produce and edit emergency-related communications materials: case studies, quotes, photos, social media content, videos, and factsheets.
• Conduct field content collection and coordinate with country offices and Alliance2015 partners.
• Create briefing documents for media appearances and prepare spokespersons.
• Draft audience-specific content for publications and media releases.
• Monitor global crises and assess their impact on WHH’s humanitarian work.
• Ensure donor visibility and reporting compliance, especially for private and institutional partners.
• Provide communications support for proposal development and reporting.
• Be deployable for up to 4 weeks in crisis zones when needed.

Your Profile
• Degree or training in journalism, marketing, political science, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in communications, ideally in humanitarian contexts.
• Proven storytelling, writing, and editing skills across platforms.
• Strong social media and digital content production skills.
• Experience working independently in decentralized, dynamic teams.
• Resilient and adaptable in high-stress environments; willing to travel and be vaccinated for fieldwork.
• Fluent in German and English (French is a plus).
• Comfortable using data to inform communications strategies.
