The Centre for Planetary Health Policy (CPHP) invites participants to the 17th edition of the Planetary Health Dialogues on April 10, 2025 (online), focusing on the health impacts of biodiversity loss and the transition from global agreements to local solutions.

As biodiversity declines at an alarming rate, the protection of ecosystems remains crucial for both human health and sustainable development. Following the 2024 report by the Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services (IPBES), this session will examine key recommendations for integrating health into biodiversity policies.

Speakers include Dr. Kim Grützmacher (Museum für Naturkunde/Leibniz Institute for Evolution and Biodiversity Science), Barbara Engels (Federal Agency for Nature Conservation), and Prof. Dr. Claudia Hornberg (Chair of the German Advisory Council on the Environment). Discussions will explore how biodiversity strategies in Germany address the interconnection between ecosystems and public health.

Moderated by Nicole Stauf (CPHP), this webinar is part of a monthly series featuring scientists, policymakers, and civil society actors, fostering dialogue on planetary health and justice within ecological limits.

Dear colleagues and interested parties!

We cordially invite you to the Tropical Medicine Symposium at the Charité.

Modern tropical medicine not only addresses the classic infectious diseases of warm regions, but also the social determinants of health and the economic aspects of healthcare in middle- and low-income countries. The boundaries between curative and population-based preventive medicine are often fluid. The same applies to the closely related fields of international and global health and migration medicine. The Institute of International Health is located at the intersection of these topics. Here, patient care (returning travelers, migrants), specialized diagnostics, the prevention of vaccine-preventable diseases, and research activities in Berlin and abroad converge. Constantly changing infection patterns and new diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive options shape our daily lives.

We hope this event will provide you with insight into the changing, exciting, and broad field of modern tropical medicine. The speakers will be available for discussion afterward. Continuing education credits have been applied for with the Berlin Medical Association. We look forward to welcoming you to this symposium on May 7, 2025, and look forward to a lively exchange.

As we are gathering in Berlin for the Global Disability Summit 2025 (GDS), we would like you to save the date for our joint event “Towards an Inclusive Care and Support Economy”.

We invite you to a crucial conversation on disability rights and the care and support economy, focusing on the often-overlooked role of persons with disabilities—especially women—as both recipients and providers of care. While discussions on care systems often center on caregivers, this event will highlight the importance of inclusive policies that uphold the rights and autonomy of people with disabilities.

We will hear firsthand from women with disabilities about their lived experiences and explore diverse perspectives on care and support from German, European, and international speakers. The event will conclude with an open discussion engaging all participants.

When: Tuesday 1st April. We will have refreshments at 18:30 with the event beginning at 19:00. Drinks and food will also be offered after the event finishes at 20:00.

Where: Robert Bosch Stiftung GmbH, Französische Straße 32, 10117 Berlin.

Please register by filling out this form before Monday 24th March: https://forms.office.com/r/kxbbDnAv3g.

A more detailed invitation will be circulated soon.

The event language is English with German live interpretation. Live subtitling in English and German will be provided as well as International Sign Language. There is no inductive hearing system on site. The venue is barrier-free and wheelchair accessible. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet on the ground floor. Assistance dogs are allowed in the building. There will be staff on site to assist visitors who require accessibility, including opening doors. Please give us a short notice

While several European countries have adopted social prescribing to varying degrees, there is a pressing need
for robust evidence to demonstrate its effectiveness.

This workshop will provide valuable insights from three notable trials in Sweden, Ireland, and Germany,
offering lessons for both research and practice:
• Prof. Wolfram Herrmann & Niklas Jeske, M.Sc. (Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin): Social
Prescribing for Individuals with Non-Medical Health-Related Social Needs in Primary Care: A MultiCenter Randomized Controlled Pragmatic Feasibility Trial.
• Prof. Susan Smith (Trinity College Dublin): Primary Care-Based Link Workers Providing Social
Prescribing for People with Multimorbidity in Socially Deprived Areas: The LinkMM Trial.
• Prof. Ingeborg Nilsson (Umeå University): Social Prescribing Targeting Loneliness Among Older
Adults Using a Model for Integrated Care: The SPiS Trial.

Additionally, two experts will share standout lessons from UK-based efforts on social prescribing research
and implementation in practice:
• Prof. Kerryn Husk (University of Plymouth)
• Prof. Stephanie Tierney (University of Oxford)

Klima-assoziierte Effekte auf Gesundheit von Mensch, Tier und Umwelt am 5. März 2025 in Hannover

Dear members of the Global Health Hub Germany,
On behalf of EuroScan international network/i-HTS, we would like to invite you to the first public discussion regarding the potential implementation of an IG Implementation research group as a common action of EuroScan and HTAi.

Following several years of preparation and discussion, we would like to extend the  focus of HTA and Early Awareness beyond the classical area of regulation and reimbursement. Over the years we have observed that effective technologies are not implemented to their full potential and struggle to increase system sustainability. We would like to form a group which can give advice based on evidence to increase awareness, acceptance and effective implementation.

In the attached documents, we have described the initial ideas agreed by the EuroScan board to improve the situation. At the same time EuroScan would like to improve the options for innovators to access advice on how to proceed towards successful
implementation.

EuroScan would be happy to welcome you to discuss this approach and invite you to
join the virtual meeting on the 11. March 11.30 (UTC+ 1).

Please register via the link .
With kind regards,
Iñaki Gutierrez-Ibarluzea

Join Benjamin Bodirsky in the upcoming GLOHRA Academy Series on 4 March 2025, 16:00 – 17:00 CET for a presentation on healthy, sustainable and social food systems.

Dr. Bodirsky (Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research) explores the factors driving food systems transformations and their effects on the environment, health, and social equity. With a focus on food security, dietary shifts, and environmental sustainability, he investigates how political frameworks can support a more sustainable food system. His work spans topics such as the global nitrogen cycle, greenhouse gas emissions, planetary boundaries, agricultural markets, and climate mitigation policies. The unifying element behind these topics is his methodological approach. He enjoys designing and developing quantitative simulation models that combine economic and biophysical dynamics.
