To commemorate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Theodor Bilharz, the discoverer of Schistosoma haematobium, leading research institutions from Germany and Gabon have come together to host a landmark conference in Tübingen. The event is co-organized by the University Hospital Tübingen, Technical University Munich, Justus-Liebig University Gießen, and the Centre de Recherches Médicales de Lambaréné (CERMEL) in Gabon.


The meeting aims to bring together experts, researchers, and students from across the globe to exchange insights, present new research, and discuss future directions in the fight against schistosomiasis.

  • History and Global Health

  • The Parasite and Its Hosts

  • Clinical Disease and Morbidity Management

  • Drugs, Diagnostics, and Vaccines

  • Immunology, Microbiome, and Metabolomics (DZIF Sessions)

  • Epidemiology, Prevention, and Implementation Science


📢 Call for Abstracts:
Present your work as a poster or oral presentation. Submissions must be in English and are due by 30 April 2025.


🔗 Register and submit your abstract soon — only 200 seats available!
🏨 Due to limited accommodation in Tübingen, early booking is strongly recommended.
