This year, from June 8–9, 2026, in Berlin and online via WebEx, the focus will be on how public health systems can adapt amid global crises, political instability, and climate pressures. ⚡🩺

Over two days, interactive lectures and a panel discussion will explore the health impacts of conflict, rising inequalities, resilient global health governance, data-sharing frameworks, and strategies to maintain public trust in science. The event aims to spark interdisciplinary dialogue and develop solutions for a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable public health future. 🤝✨

The CLIMADEMIC Summer School 2026 will take place from 29 June to 3 July 2026 in Berlin, hosted at the Conference Centre of the Federal Ministries. The event is organized by the Robert Koch Institute through its Centre for Artificial Intelligence in Public Health Research (ZKI-PH).

This intensive one-week international programme explores the connections between climate change, infectious diseases, and public health. Through lectures, discussions, and interdisciplinary exchange, participants will gain insights into how a changing climate influences disease dynamics and global health risks. 🌡️🦠

The Summer School is primarily aimed at PhD students and postdoctoral researchers working in fields such as climate science, epidemiology, public health, machine learning, and data science. The programme is designed to equip early-career researchers with the knowledge and tools needed to address climate-related health challenges while connecting them with an international network of experts and peers. 🤝

The curriculum is structured around three key thematic blocks:
Climate modelling and impacts on health and society
Infectious disease epidemiology and climate change dynamics
AI approaches in climate sciences

The Summer School is organized in collaboration with several research partners, including the GFZ Helmholtz Centre for Geosciences, Hasso Plattner Institute, the University of Potsdam, and the ELLIS Network.

With 40 participant spots available, the programme offers an engaging five-day learning experience featuring expert lectures, interactive discussions, and networking opportunities. Participants who complete the programme will receive a certificate of participation. 🎓
