The Robert Koch Colloquium is an annual interdisciplinary lecture series hosted by the Robert Koch Institute. Each year, the colloquium focuses on a cutting-edge public health theme, bringing together leading experts to present and discuss their research and insights.
This year’s colloquium centres on the theme “Empowering Public Health: From Data to Global Health,” exploring the transformative potential of digitalization, data analytics, and advanced technologies in addressing public health challenges worldwide.
It will take place in a hybrid format from Monday 19 May (1pm CET) to Tuesday 20 May (3pm CET). The lectures will be held at the headquarters of the Robert Koch Institute in Berlin and concurrently livestreamed.

After the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, countries rallied around the idea of a pandemic treaty to enshrine global solidarity against pandemic threats and establish priorities for coordination, cooperation, and equity during a health emergency. After more than two years of complex negotiations, WHO Member States advanced a historic pandemic agreement on Wednesday April 16, 2025. As we move from negotiations to adoption and implementation — and we reach one year since approving amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHRs) — what have we learned about multilateralism for preventing, preparing for, and responding to pandemic threats? What’s needed to propel global coordination and alignment for proactive, equitable prevention, preparedness, and response?

Join Pandemic Action Network (PAN) and FOUR PAWS on the sidelines of WHA78 for The Pandemic Agreement and Beyond: International Solidarity in a Multipolar Era, to bring together leading stakeholders in the pandemic agreement and IHR processes for candid reflections and an action-oriented discussion on what comes next for multilateralism and pandemic threats, and how we continue to propel global action to keep the world healthy and safe.
