🦟 Student Job Opportunity: Support the Surveillance of West Nile Virus (WNV) in Berlin – Summer 2025

🕒 Working Hours: Up to 20 hours/week
💼 Contract: Fixed-term (6 months, with possible extension)
💰 Pay: According to E9b TV-L (German public sector scale)
The Epidemiology and Infectious Disease Surveillance Unit at LAGeSo is looking for motivated students to support mosquito surveillance and a large-scale seroprevalence study on WNV in cooperation with Charité Berlin.
🧪 Tasks Include:
• Interviewing confirmed WNV cases using standardized questionnaires
• Assisting with mosquito trapping and logistics in collaboration with Charité
• Organizing and supporting blood sample collection from ~2000 residents in Berlin
• Preparing study and information materials (questionnaires, flyers)
• Helping organize and conduct information events
• Performing statistical analysis of collected data
• Coordinating with partners at Charité and Berlin’s public health offices
👤 Who Can Apply:
• Enrolled students in medicine, natural sciences, public health, or epidemiology (min. 60 ECTS, from 3rd semester)
• Strong interest in infectious diseases and fieldwork
• Good organizational and communication skills
• Team-oriented and able to work independently
• Basic knowledge of statistics; phlebotomy skills a plus
