My perspective on "global health" is shaped by the European spirit of "bettertogether". As Alumna ofDear Hub Management Team, dear colleagues,
My perspective on "global health" is shaped by the European spirit of "bettertogether". As Alumna of European School Karlsruhe I was raised in this spirit and got a flavour of the work this entails at Parliament already with 17, when we as pupils had the privilege to model the situation in the EP in Strasbourg. This was in 1986.
With 18 I moved to Budapest to study at Semmelweis University and with 24 I had my first daughter ( who is a Neurologist today). I was selected for ERASMUS at Paris Hospital ( Neurology when she was six month old and " la crèche" at Hospital was free of charge for breastfeeding mothers. A political move those days still not to imagine in Germany today, were working conditions for female workforce not only in the health system has room for improvement.
Since then I am a global nomad, all my (our) children are born in different places ( Hungary, USA, Germany) and themselves became global nomads. I worked on many global health projects that supported women: women molested in childhood, reproductive health projects (PMTCT) in Africa etc..
Medical systems should always be based on prevention to enhance overall population health. Systems that care for, retain and value their work-force too.
As coordinator for a European Training Programme on Mental Health ( https://eu-promens.eu/eu-promens/pages/events) today I have the privilege to think about how to support and upskill European Workforce regarding Mental Health. Over the next three years we will provide trainings ( all EU plus Ukraine) and in -person exchanges in six European hubs, if you are working in the mental health field, feel free to reach out to me here or under my email: Ildiko.Meny@gfa-group.de
Looking forward to get to know more of you in-person soon, Kind regards
Ildiko

Hello everyone, I would like to share with you my experiences in the field of global health. It all started a long time ago when I was lucky enoughHello everyone, I would like to share with you my experiences in the field of global health. It all started a long time ago when I was lucky enough to have an exchange program with a German missionary who worked in Africa. It became clear to me very early on that global health requires more than just a functioning system in Germany. This attitude has shaped me since my youth. The Corona crisis showed how important a globally functioning system is. Because of my global role, I am currently working on cross-organizational concepts in cooperation with various countries to support this global responsibility from the business side as well. We are also currently involved in an exciting research project with universities, associations and global organizations to understand the thematic tertiary effects of the pandemic and to define appropriate measures. I am very much looking forward to the exchange in our HUB, to learn from each other and to work together. Mehr...
