The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs of the State of Brandenburg (MGS) is seeking a Policy Officer (Referent*in) to join Department 16: Women, Gender Equality, Anti-Discrimination, and Queer Lifestyles, based in Potsdam. The position supports the implementation of the Istanbul Convention and is offered as a fixed-term maternity and parental leave replacement (expected until March 2027).

🔎 Key responsibilities include:
• Coordinating and advancing the implementation of the Istanbul Convention in Brandenburg
• Steering, evaluating, and further developing the State Action Plan to Combat Violence Against Women and Their Children
• Coordinating cross-sectoral working groups with ministries, NGOs, municipalities, and experts
• Acting as a central networking and coordination hub for institutions, civil society, and local actors
• Supporting national and international reporting processes (e.g. GREVIO, CEDAW, DIMR)
• Advising ministries and supporting projects addressing gender-based and domestic violence
• Organising conferences, workshops, and public events
• Managing budgeting, funding schemes, and procurement processes

👤 Profile sought:
• University degree (Master’s/Diploma or equivalent) in political science, social sciences, law, or a related field
• Professional experience in gender equality and women’s policy
• Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills
• Ability to work strategically across administration, politics, civil society, and research
• Knowledge of public administration processes is an asset
• Experience in moderation, policy development, or violence prevention is desirable
