Position sought:
The Global Fund is recruiting a Head of Malaria (Grade GL F) to serve as its global lead and authoritative voice on accelerating progress towards malaria elimination. This is a full-time, defined-duration role until December 2028, based in Geneva.
Role purpose:
The Head of Malaria sets the vision and strategy for how Global Fund investments drive equitable, high-impact and sustainable malaria outcomes, supporting malaria-endemic countries and shaping the global malaria agenda in close partnership with governments, technical agencies and donors.
đ Key responsibilities:
⢠Define and lead the Global Fundâs malaria strategy and investment priorities
⢠Ensure high-quality, equitable and impactful malaria investments aligned with country-owned plans
⢠Drive cross-Secretariat collaboration to strengthen program performance, innovation and sustainability
⢠Lead global partnerships and market-shaping efforts (e.g. WHO, RBM Partnership, Gates Foundation, governments)
⢠Guide introduction and scale-up of technical and product innovations
⢠Provide senior technical leadership and advice to Global Fund Country Teams
⢠Represent malaria evidence, performance and strategy to senior leadership, the Board and external audiences
⢠Lead, develop and motivate a high-performing, multidisciplinary Malaria Team
đ¤ Profile requirements:
⢠Medical degree or postgraduate qualification in Public Health, Epidemiology or Infectious Diseases
⢠Extensive senior-level experience in global health and malaria
⢠Proven leadership in complex, politically and operationally challenging environments
⢠Experience managing large, diverse teams and multiple high-level stakeholders
⢠Excellent strategic thinking, negotiation and communication skills
â Desirable:
⢠Specialized postgraduate qualification in malaria
⢠15+ yearsâ experience in public health with a malaria focus
⢠Strong knowledge of the Global Fund model and partnerships
⢠Recognised publication record and international policy negotiation experience
⢠French proficiency (in addition to excellent English)
