About the role
The Medical Faculty of the University of Augsburg is recruiting a full professor to lead research and teaching on social and socioeconomic determinants of environmental health, healthcare, and health equity. The position is embedded in the Environmental Health Sciences research focus, the new Environmental Health Sciences Institute, and the University’s Centre for Climate Resilience.

Key responsibilities
• Lead cutting-edge, internationally visible research on social determinants of environmental health and healthcare.
• Analyse spatial and temporal impacts of social and socioeconomic factors on health, prevention, and disease progression.
• Investigate interactions with environmental factors, lifestyle, and specific disease areas (cardio/neurovascular medicine, oncology, neurology, mental health).
• Derive and implement preventive measures in collaboration with practice partners.
• Employ qualitative and quantitative social research methods, including observational studies.
• Secure competitive third-party funding and publish in high-ranking journals.
• Contribute to modern, competence-based medical and health sciences teaching (including blended learning).

Profile requirements
• Completed higher education degree in a health or public health-related discipline.
• Proven research excellence in the advertised field (habilitation, junior professorship, or equivalent achievements).
• Leadership skills and interdisciplinary collaboration experience.
• Track record in third-party funding and high-impact publications.
• Experience in academic teaching, ideally with competence-based methods.
• Didactic qualification and ability to connect with clinical and research profile areas of the faculty.
• Under 52 years of age for civil servant appointment (otherwise private-law contract).
