The Faculty of Health Sciences at Bielefeld University is seeking to fill a W3 Professorship in Health Sciences, with a focus on Health Sociology and Health Policy, by 1 March 2026.
🧭 Position:
W3 Professor in Health Sciences – Health Sociology & Health Policy
📝 Key Responsibilities:
Conduct internationally recognized research on sociological and policy-related topics relevant to public health.
Focus areas may include health systems research, comparative health policy, occupational health, workplace health promotion, and more.
Teach in German-language public health programs at undergraduate and graduate levels (German proficiency expected within 3 years).
Contribute actively to interdisciplinary research and faculty development.
Engage in academic self-governance and support public health advancement nationally and internationally.
👤 Candidate Profile:
Background in social sciences (e.g. sociology, political science) with a strong focus on public health.
Proven excellence in empirical health research, academic teaching, and third-party funding acquisition.
Extensive interdisciplinary experience and a strong publication record.

Qualification requirements according to § 36 HG NW (e.g., completed university degree, additional scholarly achievements).
