Working at the Charité
The Charité Centre for Global Health (CCGH), which Charité established in January 2023, aims to develop strong internal, local, national and international activities and partnerships in the field of global health and to support and promote research, teaching and collaboration with politics and all stakeholders in the field of global health. The embedded group for infectious disease dynamics is a collaborative and growing group of experts in infectious disease analytics working on the intersection of computational science and evidence generation for public health policy. The group is looking for an (experienced) postdoc in the field of mathematical modelling of infectious diseases.
JOB OVERVIEW
- You will come with a high degree of motivation and self-sufficiency and will be expected to work independently and interdisciplinary. You will work closely with international collaborators, take over advisory roles on computational aspects within the group and carve out their own research niche.
- You will be able to follow their research interests within the field of computational epidemiology and mathematical modelling for infectious disease prevention or outbreak response. You will be expected to work closely with the group at CCGH and the IDD subgroup and to gradually take on roles of a mid-career researcher, including for example contributing to development of others in the group, teaching and development of teaching materials, forming their own research networks and contributing to grant applications.
- The position requires a substantial background in programming, statistics and infectious disease epidemiology. The successful candidate will be expected to regularly attend scientific conferences and collaborative visits.
- To be considered, applications will need to be in English and in a 2-page cover letter will need to include a point-by-point indication to how the candidate’s expertise matches the essential and desirable criteria listed below.
- Scientific staff is given sufficient time to carry out their own scientific work in accordance with their employment relationship (in accordance with § 110 BerlHG).
