Good afternoon, dear Global Health Hub Community! According to the Federal Intelligence Service (Bundesnachrichtendienst, BND), a laboratory accident in Wuhan is the most likely origin of the corona crises ( https://www.tagesschau.de/inland/bnd-corona-ursprung-wuhan-labor-bundesregierung-100.html). If nothing else, it proves that a worldwide *ban* on so-called *gain-of-function* research should be given the highest *priority* on the agenda of the World Health Organization, which, according to its own statement, is "dedicated to the well-being of all people". What can the GHHG and the future German federal government do to make this happen? Günter ReinerMorePost is under moderationStream item published successfully. Hub Management Team commented on this post about 8 months agoWe read a lot about international support that is going into Ukraine to restore broken health systems including the provision of mental health services. It would be ideal to learn about the social groups that are most affected by the war and the differentiated model of mental services that is being provided. The analysis can be conducted in all countries where there are conflicts to help the development of a standard package of interventions that can be adapted to suit specific situations.

Austin Mazinga commented on this post about 9 months agoThe shocking news from Malawi is that the High Court ruled against LGBTQ two days ago. This means that LGBTQ will remain illegal in Malawi. We are yet to see how the LGBTQ community and stakeholders will react to the ruling. As health professionals, we are concerned that the ruling will further limit access to essential health services. Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, health has rightly taken center stage in European politics, leading to significant developments in EU health policy, such as the European Health Union, Europe's Beating Cancer Plan and the European Health Data Space.
As we look ahead to the next mandate of the European Parliament, it's vital that candidates prioritize health and commit to keeping it at the top of the political agenda. We need leaders who will champion ambitious EU health policies, ensure equal access to healthcare for all and promote resilient and equitable health systems across the continent.
The EPHC has identified 5 key priorities that it believes should be on the agenda, which you can read in full by clicking the link below. As we look to the future of public health in Europe, we want to hear from you! What do you think are the most pressing health challenges and what actions do you think European leaders should prioritize to address them?
