About This Event

The World Health Organization (WHO) will host a webinar to launch Phase 2 of its Science and Policy Summaries (SPS) on Air Pollution, Energy Access, Climate Change, and Health. Air pollution remains one of the leading environmental risks to health worldwide, especially for vulnerable populations such as children and people living with noncommunicable diseases. Energy poverty and climate change further exacerbate these threats, demanding urgent and coordinated responses.

The SPS series equips decision-makers with accessible, evidence-based insights to inform policies that deliver clean air, sustainable energy, and climate-resilient health systems. Phase 2 highlights the health and economic impacts of air pollution, with a particular focus on NCDs and child health.

Webinar highlights:

  • Presentation of Phase 2 findings by WHO and expert contributors

  • Testimonial from Lisa Nahgon (18, Cameroon)

  • Expert inputs from Zorana Jovanovic Andersen and Jason West on exposure and health effects

  • Dialogue on actionable solutions with experts from Mexico and Iran

  • Moderation by Sophie Gumy, WHO Technical Officer, Air Quality, Energy and Health

The session will conclude with reflections from Heather Adair-Rohani, WHO Unit Head a.i., Air Quality, Energy and Health.
