About This Group
With new infectious disease outbreaks on the horizon, a layered and holistic approach to pandemic prevention and preparedness is urgently needed. To guard against both natural and man-made pandemics, the German government must strengthen public health systems and increase investments in biosafety and biosecurity. The Community on Pandemic Prevention and Biosecurity wants to raise awareness for these topics, foster synergies by connecting actors from the Global Health and Biosecurity communities, and develop policy suggestions for relevant stakeholders in Germany. By integrating these elements, the Community seeks to drive sustainable change for effective pandemic prevention.
For example, the Community has focussed on the role of indoor air quality in the transmission of airborne diseases. In a policy brief, they outline key recommendations for improving indoor air quality in Germany. The Community also presented them to the Commission on Indoor Air Quality of the Federal Environment Protection Agency (Umweltbundesamt – UBA).
