This online session explores how to manage crisis situations in public health, addressing key principles, challenges, and practical responses during emergencies such as outbreaks or pandemics.

The event is part of the course “Infectious Disease Epidemiology” (in English), which provides both theoretical and hands-on insights into the aims, scope, and methods of infectious disease epidemiology — from surveillance and prevention to control strategies and study design.

The course is free and open to undergraduate and postgraduate students as well as guests.

Certificate of attendance available for regular participants.

The Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, together with the Technical University of Berlin and partners, invites participants to the final symposium of the dVP_FAM project. The event will present the development and evaluation of a cross-sectoral digital care platform designed for individuals with familial cancer risk — a milestone in integrating digital innovation into preventive oncology.

The Herbstakademie Public Health 2025, hosted by the Niedersächsisches Landesgesundheitsamt (NLGA) in collaboration with the Medical School Hannover, Landesvereinigung für Gesundheit und Akademie für Sozialmedizin Niedersachsen Bremen e. V. (LVG & AFS), and Region Hannover, will focus on the theme “Public Health Challenges in Times of Crisis.”


Addressing the impacts of social inequality, mental health burdens, climate change, pandemics, and conflicts on population health, this three-day interdisciplinary event is designed for medical and public health students as well as early-career professionals in the public health service (ÖGD).


The programme features expert lectures, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities with municipal health professionals. Highlights include a keynote by Dr. Johannes Nießen (BiÖG), sessions on crisis resilience for vulnerable groups, climate-related disease vectors, school entry health assessments, and public health strategies for underserved populations.
