The Herbstakademie Public Health 2025, hosted by the Niedersächsisches Landesgesundheitsamt (NLGA) in collaboration with the Medical School Hannover, Landesvereinigung für Gesundheit und Akademie für Sozialmedizin Niedersachsen Bremen e. V. (LVG & AFS), and Region Hannover, will focus on the theme “Public Health Challenges in Times of Crisis.”

Addressing the impacts of social inequality, mental health burdens, climate change, pandemics, and conflicts on population health, this three-day interdisciplinary event is designed for medical and public health students as well as early-career professionals in the public health service (ÖGD).

The programme features expert lectures, interactive workshops, and networking opportunities with municipal health professionals. Highlights include a keynote by Dr. Johannes Nießen (BiÖG), sessions on crisis resilience for vulnerable groups, climate-related disease vectors, school entry health assessments, and public health strategies for underserved populations.

Participation is free of charge, but online registration is required by 3 November 2025. Continuing education credits will be applied for with the Ärztekammer Niedersachsen.

The 18th EPH Conference will bring together public health professionals, researchers, policymakers, educators, and practitioners from across Europe and beyond to explore the theme “Investing for Sustainable Health and Well-Being.”

Recognized as Europe’s leading public health gathering, the conference offers a rich programme of keynote sessions, workshops, and presentations showcasing the latest in public health research, policy, and practice. It also provides outstanding opportunities for networking, professional exchange, and collaboration.

Helsinki — a city known for its blend of urban life and nature, Nordic design, and vibrant culture — will serve as the backdrop for this four-day event. The social programme will feature a welcome reception, a conference dinner, and plenty of chances to connect with colleagues in an inspiring setting.

Global health professionals and researchers (PhD level and above) are invited to apply for the upcoming workshop “Creativity for Equity: Innovative Science Communication for Global Health Justice,” co-organized by Hannah Strohmeier, Yagmur Demirpehlivan, Torben Heinsohn, and Charlotte Köhler.

This two-day event will offer a rich blend of learning, hands-on creative practice, and collective reflection — all centered on how science communication can be reimagined to support equity and justice in global health.

Open to those working at the intersection of health, communication, and social transformation, the workshop promises a collaborative and inspiring atmosphere at the unique Spreefeld venue in Berlin.

Interdisciplinary Workshop: Advancing Research on Abortion Care

On November 20–21, 2025, the interdisciplinary workshop “Advancing Research on Abortion Care” will take place at bUm (betterplace Umspannwerk), Paul-Lincke-Ufer 21, 10999 Berlin.

The workshop brings together researchers and those interested in research to explore key barriers and enabling conditions in the field of abortion care. Participants will engage in scientific exchange, creative approaches, reflection, and interdisciplinary networking.

The event is supported by the German Alliance for Global Health Research (GLOHRA).
