šŸŒšŸ“š GLOHRA Academy Series – Primary Health Care in Global Perspective

On 3 February 2026 (4:00–5:00 PM), the GLOHRA Academy Series, organised in cooperation with Amref Health Africa (Germany), welcomes Prof. Dr. Walter Bruchhausen (University of Bonn) as guest speaker.

In his talk, ā€œThe long history of Primary Health Care between North and South, East and West,ā€ Prof. Bruchhausen will explore how ideas of primary health care have emerged, travelled, and been reinterpreted across regions and political systems over time. Drawing on perspectives from global health history, ethics, and medical anthropology, the session highlights the value of interdisciplinary and international approaches to global health research.

The event features a 30-minute presentation followed by a 30-minute interactive Q&A, encouraging open academic exchange and discussion šŸ’¬āœØ.
As part of the GLOHRA Academy Series, held every first Tuesday of the month, the session focuses not only on research findings but also on research processes, methods, and lessons learned.

šŸ”¬šŸ“ˆ Second Workshop on Causal Inference in Infectious Disease Epidemiology

The Infectious Disease Epidemiology Working Group and the Cross-Sectional Initiative on Causal Inference invite researchers to an in-person, two-day workshop from 22–23 January 2026 at the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine (BNITM), Hamburg.

Building on the successful 2024 edition, this hands-on workshop will deepen participants’ skills in causal inference methods for observational health data. The programme will introduce the three g-methods — parametric g-formula, marginal structural models (MSMs) with IPTW, and structural nested models — with practical exercises and data analysis in R.

Participants will also collaborate on designing a target trial protocol for complex infectious disease research questions (e.g., HPV vaccination, HIV treatment), and can benefit from office hours to discuss their own study designs and analytical challenges.

šŸ‘©ā€šŸ« Lecturers: Uwe Siebert & LĆ”ra Hallsson (UMIT TIROL, Austria)
šŸ’» Prerequisites: Basic CI knowledge / participation in the first workshop recommended
