DESCRIPTION:\nAfter the devastating impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, countries rallied around the idea of a pandemic treaty to enshrine global solidarity against pandemic threats and establish priorities for coordination, cooperation, and equity during a health emergency. After more than two years of complex negotiations, WHO Member States advanced a historic pandemic agreement on Wednesday April 16, 2025. As we move from negotiations to adoption and implementation — and we reach one year since approving amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHRs) — what have we learned about multilateralism for preventing, preparing for, and responding to pandemic threats?
